When testing an antenna with a Digital Multimeter (DMM), should I have an open or short reading?
Solution
When testing the continuity of an antenna with a DMM, the result should be an open or short. Open means no reading or an infinitive number, while shorted means a 0 reading or extremely low number approaching zero. Digital Antenna products are listed below with the correct reading under them.

8' VHF antennas (500 and 800 series)
reading: shorted

4' VHF antennas (500 and 800 series)
reading: open

16' VHF antennas
reading: shorted

3' VHF and AIS antennas
reading: shorted

All WiFi omni-directional antennas
reading: open

All Cellular omni-directional antennas
reading: open
