Our Story
I’ve been a boater since the 1950s and had my share of antenna failures, but one storm changed everything. When an antenna broke off my boat, my family and I lost all communication and needed Coast Guard rescue. I knew then no one should face danger because of poor equipment.
As an electrical engineer, I set out to build an antenna that would never fail. I improved the fiberglass exterior with a UV-stable polyurethane coating, designed a base from surgical-grade stainless steel, and soldered every connection for lasting reliability. For maximum performance, I used RG-8X coax with foil shielding and 98% tinned braid and even engineered a custom mini-UHF connector for simple installation and full testing.
What began as a mission to solve my own problem grew into Digital Antenna, founded with my daughter, Joanne Johnson. Every antenna is still hand-assembled and tested in Sunrise, Florida. My motto has always been: Your antenna is your lifeline. That’s the trust we’ve built, and the standard we still hold today.
